A very big thank you to everyone who helped out at the D&T Launch, it was a great turn out. So many students (and staff!) were eager to learn about the 3D printer and had some fantastic questions.

The GCSE food group have been testing their skills at baking and chosen their own recipes. They have taken George Green’s aims on board and tried to be as ‘Adventurous’ and ‘Creative’ as possible.
The GCSE group have been analysing bakery products and were given the task to design their own Chocolate Yule Log. They were put to the test when having to create their chosen designs using miniature chocolate logs.
BBC Bitesize is a great revision resource that students should use at home. It has up to date revision for all the Design Technology subjects and features short videos, activities and tests to practice your knowledge.

A quick example of using the 3D Printer in George Greens!
The 3D printer works by processing a reel of PLA filament which is a thermoplastic that is mouldable when heated. The filament is heated until melting point and then piped through a nozzle in layers, slowly building up the 3D model.

Textiles are learning dress-making skills and are putting together a garment from scratch!
